The Early Bird Gets A Makeover Part 2

After a plethora of pointless photoshoots, Tyra opened Cycle 13 with a bang. The photoshoot was extremely creative and high fashion with most girls delivering stunning photos. For the shoot, Tyra decided to have every model hopeful's baby picture and replicate it with a modern and editorial twist. Photographer Baldomero Fernandez was a genius.

The photos are arranged from my favorite, to least favorite, which will be the order for me - always [Excluding Episode 1].


Nicole

There is always the weird girl each cycle that takes flawless photos; Nicole is that girl this year. She has everything working in her favor: the broken doll pose, the wind in her hair, the overall style, etc. We will definitely see her overseas but she'll probably fail at the go-sees like the awkward girl always does, not to mention that she hardly speaks and lacks communication skills. But for now, she is my favorite this cycle and has all the girls shaking in their stilettos.


Rae - First Call-Out

The composition of this photo is brilliant. The lighting, the outfit, her hair, it all works together to create such a flow and wonderful image. She has the Lauren Brie(Cycle 11) look going for her.


Jennifer

When she asked if she could try something and laid on the sand, I was thrilled. She took her own direction and went out of the box which pleasantly surprised Mr. Jay, the photographer, and myself. She worked her body in a favorable position, elongating her arms and torso.


Ashley

I didn't like the fact that this girl basically got the spot handed to her. She had no intent on trying out but was spotted as an audience member on the Tyra Banks Show by one of Tyra's employees. But now on to the photo, like the girls above, Ashley worked her limbs to her advantage.


Courtney

When did Lisa(Cycle 9) come back? The leading lines in the composition of this photo is my favorite of all the photos. The lines of the mirror and flowing gown lead to her stunning face. Her hands bug me, but thats ok.


Lulu

She is having major improvements, and its only the first photoshoot! The tough and crazy lesbian from Brooklyn appears soft and sweet pulling the cart. Yes, it does look like she's missing an arm, but overall, this picture works.


Laura

If only Laura would have been arching her back, this photo would have been amazing. Sadly, she is not. She needs to work on her posing, but her face saves the picture, for now.


Brittany

I don't care that Mr. Jay said she was being a tad pornographic in 2/3 of her film, this girl is stunning and the image overall is beautiful. The play with lighting and shadows highlights her porcelain doll features.


Rachel

Her arms appear mannequin-esque but there is no denying that her facial features are unique. Like some of the other girls, Rachel needs to work on positioning her arms so they are pleasing to the eye.


Erin

Erin also has those doll like features that work to her advantage. The top half of this photo stands out, however, the bottom is rather wah wah wah. I keep repeating myself, but these girls need to work with their hands as well.


Kara

Yes, her profile is beautiful but after 12 cycles of Top Model, we all know that if a profile is chosen for you, then you are in trouble. She needs to be able to shoot straight on, hopefully she can do that next week and keep it feminine.


Bianca - Bottom Two

Tyra said it best when telling Bianca that a model is supposed to work with whatever they are given. If the model doesn't like what they are wearing or the way they are styled, too bad. I was annoyed when Bianca kept complaining about her make-up and wardrobe. You are there to be the canvas, not the painter!! On a lighter note, her pose is modelesque but needs to work on softening her facial features.


Sundai

Fatmia(Cycle 11) is that you? NO, but really, Sundai's personality is one of my favorite this cycle. She needs to elongate her neck to add length because she is the shortest girl of the already short cycle at 5'3.


Lisa - Eliminated

Way to be a Debbie Downer Jackie Burkhart! Her pose is Modeling101 and for a clown, she is not having it. She could have had so much fun with the balloons and just the fact that she was a clown. Now we know who NOT to invite to a birthday party.
